A Bad Week Saved By Jason Davis / Ep 141 / Blue City Radio

Episode 141:

Let’s face it.  It was a miserable week all around.  The USMNT failed to qualify for Russia 2018.  NYCFC suffered a poorly timed loss in Gilette Stadium.

Luckily, Mike and Jon have guest Jason Davis from Sirius XM on the show to discuss the US Soccer conundrum and a little NYCFC.

There’s Still MLS / Ep 140 / Blue City Radio

Episode 140:

This will be one of the most dated episodes ever done.  Typically recording on Monday and then posting on Wednesday isn’t that much of an issue.  But when the USMNT gets eliminated from the World Cup on Tuesday, it’s tough to sound relevant if you’re not talking about their failure.

Mike and Jon do discuss the “more official” announcement from Andrea Pirlo about his retirement from soccer in December. They also discuss the US win over Panama  and the US U17’s strong showing in India.

The second segment gives a snapshot into the New England Revolution and how the team looks after the firing of Jay Heaps as Alex Almeida from Six States One Pod joins the show.

Now Hiring DM’s and Strikers and a USMNT Loss / Ep 134 / Blue City Radio

Episode 134:

Between International Call-ups and injuries, NYCFC will be pretty thin for Wednesday’s game versus Sporting KC.  Things improve, but just moderately for Saturday’s game against Portland Timbers.  Luckily for Vieira, both of this week’s home matches are against Western Conference opponents.

Martin Bihl from Last Word on Sports joins Mike and Jon this week as the trio try to figure out how Patrick Vieira will approach these games.

In the middle segment the guys breakdown the USMNT World Cup Qualifier loss from Friday night in New Jersey.

Depleted Roster for NYCFC, USMNT Visits NYCFC House, and the HRD / Ep 133 / Blue City Radio

Episode 133:

In a week of mostly bad news for NYCFC, the only bright spot was the 1-1 draw from Red Bull Arena on Friday night.

Mike and Jon start off the show discussing some of the news that trickled out during the week.

In the second segment the guys breakdown comments from Bruce Arena, Michael Bradley, Tim Howard and Christian Pulisic from the US Soccer press conference at NYCFC House.

Finally the guys give their thoughts on the third game of the season between NYCFC and Red Bull.

USMNT WCQ, US Open Cup and MLS Cup Champions / EP 122 / Blue City Radio

Episode 122:

This is in relative terms a quick episode of Blue City Radio.  Mike and Jon discuss the two most recent games for the US Men’s National Team.  Then they look ahead at NYCFC playing two matches again, the US Open Cup game Wednesday against Red Bull and the Saturday game at reigning MLS Cup Champions, the Seattle Sounders.

International Breaks for Everyone / Ep 111 / Blue City Radio

Episode 111:

With NYCFC and most of the MLS on international break, Jon decided it was time for his first break of the season.  Jon being the dynamic co-host he is, Mike had to bring in two guys to fill his spot.

First Jeff Weisinger from SBI drops in to give us his first hand account of USAvHON.

Then Martin Bihl, the Joan Rivers of Blue City Radio, takes over to discuss NYCFC’s first three games.

Then Mike and Jeff discuss the upcoming match versus San Jose.

LEXIT, NYCFC Effect and USAvMEX / Ep 96 / Blue City Radio

Episode 96:

This week’s episode kicks off with a look at the legacy of Frank Lampard as he announces his departure from NYCFC.  Season Ticket Holder and Third Rail member Tony Larsen joins the show to discuss that topic but also two NYCFC-ish events in NY from last week.  First was a fundraiser for the South Bronx United with Jack Harrison and Jimmy Conrad.  The second was a Third Rail end of season event with honorees David Villa, Andoni Iraola and guests Patrick Vieira and RJ Allen.

After the break Andy Maycraft (sorry Leah was busy insulting Mike Francessa on her own vblog) from A View from 226 joins us to discuss USAvMEX from Columbus.

The show closes with a little deeper dive into the shortlist of players fans have been throwing out as replacements for the departing DP.

NYCFC v Necaxa, Martin Bihl and DC Preppers / Ep 91 / Blue City Radio

Episode 91:

For those about the listen to this podcast, we salute you.

Mike and Jon kick off the show awaiting the arrival of regular guest, Martin Bihl from Last Word on Soccer.  Once Martin joins the show, it all breaks down.  The guys discuss geography (incorrectly), Costa Rica’s International Schedule (incorrectly) and MLS East Coast Standings (vaguely).

16.67% Effort / Ep 85 / Blue City Radio

Episode 85

Patrick Vieira said he felt like his team played well for 15 minutes of the match on Sunday versus Orlando.  So fans should not be surprised by the 2-1 loss.  Mike and Jon discuss the key plans of the game in the first segment.

In the second segment Ryan Keefer from Fillibuster, the DC United podcast joins us to breakdown DC’s resurgence.  The new additions and dropping of dead weight has proven to be successful, he tells us why as we preview NYCvDC

Next up, Mark Kastner from Total MLS joins the show to give us his outsider’s view of NYCFC and a broader look at MLS as we enter the final stages of the 2016 campaign.

It’s a long show, but with the Thursday game we give you a little for today and a little for later on.
