NYCFC’s First Roster Moves, MLS Cup Preview and Gulati Out / Ep 146 / Blue City Radio

Episode 146:

The table is set for a rematch between last year’s MLS Cup Finalists, Toronto and Seattle, but these are very different teams from last year.  Clint Dempsey while not at full strength is very active in the Sounder’s attack and TFC added depth and creativity, most notably in the addition of Victor Vazquez to the already potent offense.

Mike and Jon take their usual places behind the mic for this episode and Nick Chavez joins the guys for a preview of the MLS Cup Final.  The guys also tackle the breaking news about Sunil Gulati and his announcement that he will not seek re-election for US Soccer President in February.

Lastly, the guys tackle the NYCFC news on player options as the club releases some key players from the 2017 campaign.

MLS Playoffs Return, JR DiBart Stops By, and Eirik Says Ha Det / Ep 145 / Blue City Radio

Episode 145:

There was so much time off between the Conference Semi-Finals and the Conference Finals that Jon’s wife could have given birth.  It was only 16 days, but it’s long enough for neutrals to lose interest and for teams to begin their pre-season work for next year.

This week Mike and Jon welcome JR Dibart to the show.  JR brings his radio experience and knowledge and insight on NYCFC to the show.

The guys break down the MLS Conference Finals leg one matches which were not without drama. They also discuss the NYCFC news and start to look ahead at 2018.

The End Is Near: MLS Cup & NASL’s Future? / Ep 99 / Blue City Radio

This week Mike and Jon start on the somber note as they discuss the unfortunate loss of life in the Colombia plane crash from last week.  The conversation transitions to the story from Empire of Soccer on the New York Cosmos and their release of all their players.

In the second segment the guys discuss newcomer Sean Okoli who joins NYCFC from USL’s FC Cincinnati.  Following that they discuss the chaos that was the Eastern Conference Final that ended in a 7-5 Aggregate.

Last but certainly not least, Calen Carr from MLSSoccer.com joins the show to share his thoughts on the MLS Cup Final, playing in the league, and talks about walkmans and pre-game music.
